Iris "Samantha" Portillo Fragoso
Iris “Samantha” Portillo Fragoso is a licensed Mexican attorney who joined the Hall Law Office in June 2018. Before that, Samantha compiled a record of accomplishment at the top of Mexico’s legal profession that augurs well for the future.
Samantha’s career began when she was selected for Mexico’s most prestigious law school, Escuela Libre de Derecho, and graduated 4th in her class of 250. This program was so tough that 80% of her classmates could not finish. Upon graduation, a Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Mexico’s Supreme Court, personally invited her to work for him in a covetedposition as Deputy Law Clerk. She performed stellar work there for four years. After that, Samantha served as Deputy Director of the Ministry of Public Administration for two years.
Samantha, however, looked north. She applied for and won a competitive scholarship to Georgetown University and won another scholarship from the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and from the Bank of Mexico. She then earned an LLM in International Legal Studies and a Certification in Human Rights, both from Georgetown University. Samantha also worked for Catholic Charities Pro Bono Immigration Law Program, which received the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s DC Chapter Pro Bono Award for 2017-2018.
Samantha combines the best of Mexico with the best U.S. graduate legal education and makes that skill, caring, and capability available to help the H-2A and H-2B employer communities with their legal problems. She can be reached at (202) 434-8761 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
